Beautiful orchid species. I checked my reference books and http://www.orchidspecies.com/indexqrsel.htm it fits for location and genus but seems to be too tall for described species. There are many varieties spread throughout Europe so it could just be a local variety of D. maculata (and information in references does vary). Thanks for sharing. Shaun
Thank you for sharing this photo! It reminds me about forest not far from Moscow when I lived there. We even plant a few in our garden and they bloomed the whole summer.
how many orchids are native to russia there must be a vast range for the geography of the location is so varying
Its common distribution from the Russian region to the Northern region of China and the DPRK, I found some at the Changbia Mountain last summer they are Gyanadenia conopsea.
Sorry, but the plant in the photo is clearly a Dactylorhiza. The shape of the flowers is different, and notice the spots too.
you are right. In my country (vietnam) orchid is very popular.we choose orchid as a gift for someone. We put a big vase of orchid for decorating our living room . It seem like a mode in my country .
