'Avium Plena' in full bloom on Commercial and 47th.
Attempted to photograph the recurved sepals.

The Avium Plena on the east side of Commercial, north of E. 47th, is in full bloom at April 19, 2024.

Across the street are a few 'Kanzan' trees. One of them shows the tell-tale bulges of bacterial canker survival, recovering enough to provide a den access in the exposed root. Floral bloom in cluster bunches, at April 19, 2024.

I went to see this poor 'Ito-kukuri' on East 54th at Wales. The end seems near.

I don't know how long the run of 'Kanzan' is on Victoria Drive. Here is south from Upland Dr, then north from Upland Dr, then the corner at Victoria and Nassau Dr, then Nassau Dr west of Victoria to Braeburn.

Here are a couple of blocks of 'Kanzan' on 54th, just past Vivian Dr where I turned off. These really belong in Killarney, where I will post them, but they're part of a conversation below, so I am keeping them here.

My destination was really the 'Ichiyo' trees on Vivian north of Brightwood Place. These have been open for a while, are almost completely white now.
    Ichiyo_VivianBrightwood_Cutler_20250422_144720.jpg Ichiyo_VivianBrightwood_Cutler_20250422_144809.jpg Ichiyo_VivianBrightwood_Cutler_20250422_144943.jpg Ichiyo_VivianBrightwood_Cutler_20250422_144951.jpg Ichiyo_VivianBrightwood_Cutler_20250422_145056.jpg
So I was walking along grousing about the Parks Board and what would make them think that it would be nice to have a 'Kanzan' breaking up this lovely run of 'Ichiyo' (see 2nd photo above), surely they can tell the difference, when a passerby stopped to chat about how beautiful this street was, and particularly did I see that nice pink tree just over there, and there are more of them up on 54th; the pink ones are his favourites. Okay, objection withdrawn, though he didn't really change my mind.

At Brightwood are two 'Shirotae', same grousing.
