It’s definitely open season for ‘Beni-shidare’ on the Sunshine Coast. Here’s a stately one on Point Road in Hopkins Landing.
This is typically the last ‘Whitcomb’ to flower on the Sunshine Coast. Full bloom today. On Newman Road off YMCA Road in Langdale.
I think the closest examples of ‘Somei-yoshino’ are at Park Royal, See Postings #109 and #110 in West Vancouver thread.
‘Akebono’ come in all shapes and sizes in Sechelt, but the trio at the RCMP headquarters are the biggest. Blooming now.
Sandwiched between a Forsythia and a plum is an ‘Accolade’ blooming now in Langdale. On Chadwick, east of YMCA Rd.
There is a geriatric ito-zakura in Langdale on Newman and Jensen. Might look better in a few days when more buds open.
My neighbour Joy and I were doing a quick cherry scouting trip in the neighbourhood today. We met the owner of this property on Wharf and Thompson in Langdale, and viewed the ‘Akebono’ and four ‘Whitcomb’ from her home. A real treat.
The ‘Little Twist’ at BC Ferries Langdale terminal may not be the most beautiful trees, but they have been flowering for 8 weeks and that is impressive.
