April 20, 2013. Columbia Springs trout hatchery in Vancouver Washington. Almost looks like some type of lavender.

Do you have the book "Wildflowers of the Columbia Gorge"?

This is in the Boraginaceae, maybe Myosotis discolor?

    Thanks,

Sorry I don't have that book. I am just a beginner. Still trying to figure out what is a wildflower and what is an invasive weed.

I do have a field guide from the library, Peterson's Pacific Wildflowers. The only Myosotis is Myosotis sylvatica.

No worries -- my advice is go pick up a copy, you might find a used one at Powell's (and if not used, then a new one for sure). As you continue to explore the area, you'll find it useful for both identification and for finding new sites to check out.

Also, you will find this site very useful: http://science.halleyhosting.com/nature/pnwmenu.htm

Do keep on posting, though! Just thought you might like to have some resources.

I am just sort of practicing on flowers in the city around where I live. I am finding out that most appear to be invasive species. In this coming weeks I will be going hiking and hopefully finding some interesting specimens.
