    A question for the nurserymen....

Sometime from various sellers, I will see 2G ultra grown to be a single 6 ft leader. Minimal branching along it, maybe 2, and then maybe 2-4 longish branching on the end of it.

I've seen the same with even a 15" Boxed @ the nursery yard.

The ? is not is the seller juicing it up for marketability but just in terms of overall shape, is it literally fed a High N solution in year 1 or 2 since grafting, to get it to be a single long leader and possibly also some buds pinched off the leader in those years to just keep it to be a single vert long leader plant ?

from my limited experience, yes -- drown it in 4-3-4, limb it up, and sell it a year sooner than you would otherwise. but i'll defer to others who might know more!

My 3 Shirasawanums from this JM seller is similar and different somewhat. The 2G he sells is borderline 3G....as the roots are always plentiful with a full pot plug being lifted out *unlike many mail-order* where you are lucky if you get 1/2 a pot plug. It's a single leader, somewhat limbed up....a branch or 2 below the 5 foot tip - and the 2 semi long branching, with branching off that off the tip.

Here is what prompted this post as for the same family of Shirasawaum, Blue Moon, he has chosen to grow it different. Less height, but more branching:fuller plant.

I'm not sure if it was grown this way versus the latter. Pricing is the same....still 2G realm, just grown differently than the other 2 limbed up versions.
I suppose there may be a reason for it like Blue Moon doesn't respond well to High N Single Leader Limb Up ?
Trees are of good quality:healty with mature root and leaders....

Was just talking outloud as I was surprised to receive the Blue Moon in a different -format- that his usual style for this type.

On the flip side, I have seen the same from even the wholesalers like Isli. Their #6 was fairly multiple branched and they had a #15 box that easily have a single thick leader, somewhat limbed up with a leader around 7 feet or so,
