Trying to determine what is going on with this Garry oak. There is an old pruning cut and it appears as though a canker like disease has resulted from the wound. In the wet season, there is an red wine like alcoholic smell which indicates alcohol flux to me. However, from my understanding, that is associated with the cambial dieback that I am seeing here. Any ideas? Is this a combination of things?
