Is this something I could be excited about?

To clarify my previous question – How common is fasciation on Kotohime? And is it something that could realistically be propagated? I’m not really a fan of fasciation aesthetically, but it might be fun exploring anyway.

Well I haven't seen it on Koto-hime specifically, but I think all of the dwarfing small-leaved palmatum group are prone to fasciation. In terms of excitement, I'd be more worried that the fasciation shows some nutritional gap, that could cause the plant to curl up and quit. There aren't a lot of stable fasciated cultivars (Sekka-yatsubusa, fasciated but otherwise a fairly enthusiastic grower -- not that yatsubusa means dwarfing, anyway) but personally I'd be more interesting in keeping the koto playing princess alive. As to whether the fasciation would stay true after gtafting, there's only one way to find out! -E

Thank you very much emery! I will soon plant this one in the ground. I hope that if there is some stress related issue causing the fasciation, that will fix it. At about the same time I will cut off the fasciated branch and graft it.
