My neighbour just gave me this exquisite little penstemon, thinking it was a dwarf type of Penstemon davidsonii. He grew it from a cutting that he took several years ago on Mt. Arrowsmith (Vancouver Island).

I couldn't find any info that there is such a plant as dwarf P. davidsonii so started looking to see if this might be a different species. Based on what I have read on E-Flora BC, I think it may be Penstemon ellipticus even though I haven't seen it in flower.

Can someone please take a look at it and give me your opinion? The longest leaf is 1cm long by .5cm wide.
