Hello, I have a very upsetting question about our Clematis, why is my clematis full of straw like stems, no green shoots or any sign of life? I have two pictures, 1 coming into full bloom in 2020 and 2 now 2021. Thankyou. Suzie.

Clematis montana is large growing. Anyway no way to tell what happened with only distant views to work with. In addition to good close views background information about recent weather or other possibly relevant occurrences including chemical applications should be mentioned.
