I good stand of chokecherries became heavily infested last year with large gauls filled with orange worms. Of course, they are back this year.
    Can someone suggest a treatment?

These are Chokecherry Fruit Gall midges. The only treatment suggested by the Web is removal of galls, since no insecticide is registered for control. One AI search engine suggested trying a fungicide or miticide, but these are insects. So, I would try Malathion, which is about the only insecticide that is readily available to the general public. It would have to be applied when the adults are flying around and laying eggs, since insecticides are not effective on the larvae inside the galls.
