It's not just big, but it's nice and full too, and covered with red bracts and flowers. So much for all I used to read about how they need so many hours of complete darkness to get flowers, but it did get a big change between summer and winter growing conditions. I'm assuming that the owners do use their basement and that the plant has seen artificial evening light leading up to this blooming.
