That said, blackberries are a major source of food and cover for many organisms with whom I share my little patch in the woods and I have a hard time blackberrying because there are never any left!  So I am disinclined to remove the brambles willy nilly.  <br />

However, I spend most of my time here in northern VA removing invasives and if these blackberries were of the non native, European or Asian variety I would reluctantly remove....<br />

I found a source for orchids that are native within 25 miles but I cannot find any reports in my county. Some of the reported populations are in the single digits.<br />

I manage to keep on top of them during the summer but by the time autumn rolls around, I am getting tired and let them go until springtime - before they go to seed.<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Botanic Gardens Conservation International, (BGCI) with the support of The Maple Society and the Maple Society Open Science Initiative, presents The Red List of Acer: revised and extended, published 22 Spetember 2020. This most important of maple conservation documents gives the conservation status of 158 maple species.
