We planted the seed in a cup of water to try it out and the resulting plant has been successful for a few years. I think it is three years old now.

It is in a pot, and will need to be put in a bigger pot soon.
And it needs to be brought indoors during winters, and cold evenings, so a high ceiling or a greenhouse is recommended.
I replaced one of the pot lights in our ceiling with a grow light, but our ceiling is only 8' high and the tree is now bumping...

The pot was used last summer, and I had put it along a fence with all the other pots last Autumn when the growing season was finishing.

I noticed the sapling a couple weeks ago, growing out of a nut. It was probably dropped there by a crow or squirrel, and was only half buried, so I put a few scoops of soil over it to cover it completely.

It is still in its original packaging; never been opened.
I bought it when I was in the nursery last Winter, thinking I'd prepare for Spring, but only realized later there was not enough room in the bee house I already have. And I do not want to buy another bee house specifically for Leafcutter Bees (not in the next year or so, anyhow.)
