This tree, on Haro west of Denman, has flowers that I described as being about 8 inches in diameter. It has no fruits now. The flower photos are from 2008; the others are from today.
All the magnolias that arrived at the nursery had yellowing leaves at the inner base of the tree. So we figured hey it’s just climate shock and springtime leaf drop.

We planted the tree inside a large “bottomless” cedar planter (dug a hole about 18 inches below the ground from the bottom of the planter). For soil we used...
I bought a small magnolia bush/tree somewhere in March and put it into a pot with good potting soil and a bit of black peat. It seems to struggle.
Could it be because I didn't use white peat? I think white peat is the sour one... not sure though.
Maybe I burned it a bit by overfertilizing it?
Could even be early frost damage that is now showing up... In any case, I have a magnolia Black Tulip in the front garden (in full ground) and that one is doing perfect. Used another peat...

I have a Magnolia Daybreak planted in full sun but close to some big cedars; planted in 2015, and it has never done well, giving only 2-5 blooms each year. This year it had 3 and they were coming along but something seems to have eaten them overnight, and is also chewing off the leaf buds. As well, the bark is badly split at the bottom. I poked around under the bark and found only an earwig. I dug around gently in the soil around the base for some kind of fat grub but didn’t find any.

This is our Blushing Belle Magnolia that we planted a couple of years ago. Think it's a cross of the Caerhays Belle. While the magnolia is still small (much smaller than our other saucer magnolia), the blooms are actually quite large with flowing tepals and the fragrance from this is amazing... like a soft, floral baby powder. There's still a few blooms left but most have fallen since last week.

I have a Little Gem Magnolia that was planted about 2 years ago, but had to be moved last summer about 10’ to make room for a shed. I was very careful to dig well below root level but of course it was impossible not to incur some root damage, although the center main roots were fairly intact.. Once moved it began flowering profusely. The issue now is the bare spot in the center and from what I have read, pruning is not an option. It is sprouting new shoots from the base, but the center is...

Hello experts, I am desperately looking for information on what's wrong with my 8 ft tall Magnolia Grandiflora which I planted 2 months ago. It was putting out a lot of flowers and looked happy in the middle of the garden in the lawn. About a week ago it started to look ill. Please see photos. Is it a fungi infection? Should I remove grass surrounding it? What can I do? Thank you so much for your help.

I have a fringe magnolia tree that is approximately 2m high. A few weeks ago I noticed that there were hundreds of wasps, hornets and other insects of various species that were swarming on the leaves and branches of this tree. I called an insect specialist and they couldn't find a nest and placed three traps. I have placed five additional wasp traps and I am now catching hundreds of yellowjackets, wasps, flies, etc per day but the issue is not going away. There are still tons of insects...
