      <content:encoded><![CDATA[This collection of books, Nihon teien-shi zukan (Illustrated History of the Japanese Garden; Tokyo: Yukosha, 1936-1939, abbreviated as&quot;Zukan&quot;) could be the greatest books every written on Japanese Gardens.  I say this because of what they are and the time and effort that went into creating them.  Nothing like this has ever been created in such detail and more than likely it will never be duplicated.   The 26 volume set features 243 gardens in detail, where most books today only cover a few....<br />

However, with the help of our young friend Jeff, and his trusty excavator, there will be a good start today.<br />

The section of the property where this little garden will be set has very little character, so I will just have to make do with what&#039;s there.<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Is there anything I can add or do to this to make it look more like a Japanese Garden.  I&#039;m stuck on what plants to add and the shape of the overall bed. <br />

So far I have 3 maples placed in a straight line. That might be problem 1.  Doesn&#039;t look &quot;natural&quot; as tree don&#039;t grow like this in nature.<br />
<br />
Maybe I can add some boulders and some complimentary plants? <br />

So i began to move it and started creating a space for a decent sized pond and a Japanese inspired garden.  I designed the waterfall to be viewed from many different angles including a patio we have around the corner from the front door of the house, its nice to finally have it plugged in!
