Hi all, we just got an 8ft. tall Ficus Audrey and I'm very nervous about the care it needs. I researched online, but there's nothing like the wealth of experience you all share. I've noticed tiny white dots and silks on the leaves. How do I clean it off? Wet cloth followed by insecticidal soap? What are some red flags to look for? I'm too nervous to even prune the poor thing so it fits in the space! Help! Please and thank you!

Hello,

I recently acquired what I believe to be a fern. It is young (no taller than 6"). Strong green, heart-shaped leaves almost like young syngonium in shape. Stiff black stems that are very wiry with a small amount of hair. Leaves (fronds?) are also thin with an almost cardboard texture with little flex in them.
Thank you for your help!
I've got in under a grow light, sitting in a saucer that always has a tiny bit of water in it.
When the daytime temperature goes above 20 degrees Celcius, I put it outside where I am hoping some tiny ants wander in to it.
I am now wondering, is there a way to tell for sure if the plant is getting enough food?
Does it give some sign when it is "hungry"?
Thinking ahead to winter when it is always indoors, surrounded by a moat of water, how...
Our patio is south-facing and exposed to direct sunshine. The Aloe Vera definitely does not like direct sunshine; even if it's for just half as day, it turns a sickly brown pretty fast. The Christmas Cactus gets brownish/yellowish tips, and the Snake Plant turns pale. Even if it gets shade for the second half of the day, these plants do not seem to like direct sunshine.
Here is the twist-it never bloomed again until May 2022, 43 years later, when it suddenly produced a mass of scented flowers! It has lived in the same place all these years on a window sill in the bathroom and receives only water, no fertiliser. It bloomed again in 2023 and 2024. Then just two little flowers last month. I'm hoping there be more in the spring....

Hi everyone,

I recently brought home a beautiful fiddle leaf fig, and I want to make sure I’m giving it the best care possible. I’ve heard that proper watering is crucial for keeping these plants healthy. Can anyone share their tips or advice on the best watering practices for a fiddle leaf fig, especially for one that’s just been purchased? I’m looking for guidance on frequency, amount, and any other factors I should consider to keep my plant thriving.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I've had a potted olive tree for a few years. I've almost killed it once by trying to "chill" it (I don't know what the actual term is) because I read that it needs some sustained cool temperatures in the winter to get fruits. So I left it out longer than usual, while keeping an eye on the temperature. When the temperature went too low, I brought it in for the season. Well that didn't work and it lost the vast majority of its leaves almost as soon as I brought it indoors. I was really...
