Perhaps that is why they are still sought out at this time of year. However these tasty morsels have been somewhat difficult to find in recent years. If you are looking for them, the good news is they are now available at Kin's Farm Market. The boxed product is from Ajimaru and weights approximately 1.25kg. The bad news is the price of $25/box....
One practice that seems to be quite common is to graft Walnut trees onto Black Walnut rootstock. This is done for both Butternut trees and Persian Walnut trees. It's made me curious. Why is this done?
Black Walnut trees are pretty aggressive growers. Their roots go down real deep, real fast. Is this the reason? Does it make the tree more resistant to more infections?
Also, does this mean the tree emits...

We have a 10 year old brown turkey tree in a south facing front yard. It hasn't been very prolific or growing tall at all. The first crop is not existent and second is good if the fall is warm and dry.
This spring I'm noticing some alarming signs on the younger stems. The growth from last year is completely dark and dull looking. Some are covered in white and some in pink spots.
Thinking of pruning it heavily to get rid of diseased branches.
Any advice would be appreciated!
