Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN

Since its founding in 1945, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has worked to promote food security and end hunger. FAO provides resources and expertise to member countries to aid research and development of agricultural and food systems. The organization serves as a neutral international forum for nations to discuss policy and negotiate agreements. A wealth of books, reports, newsletters and other digital media have been produced to meet the needs of these efforts.

Each month a million visitors consults the FAO website. Site users can investigate the agency's program areas, use the interactive Knowledge Forum or search various databases for statistical information, documents or links. Articles on important global food and agriculture issues can be found in the Newsroom as well as media resources - photos, audio, video and links.

Want to talk about this weblog entry? As of August 22, 2006, all new entries and most older entries are cross-posted to the UBC Botanical Garden Discussion Forums for discussion (you might need to use the search function to find the thread you are looking for).

This is an effort to reduce the amount of time spent dealing with spam (the forums are very good at stopping spam, the weblog commenting system is not so good).

Older entries already containing comments remain open for discussion.

Mr. Wandu, it sounds like you have set up a good training program. I hope you can spend some time exploring the FAO website that is linked to in the article. It is quite extensive. There are many relevant resources and publications, some have contacts to programs doing similar work. You may also wish to join the discussion forums of the UBC Botanical Garden. People from all around the world contribute to discussions about all things concerning plants.
