All-America Selections - Winners in the Garden
The 2005 All-America Selections Flower Award Winners are Gaillardia aristata 'Arizona Sun', Vinca 'First Kiss Blueberry', and Zinnia F1 'Magellan Coral'. Vegetable Awards went to Eggplant F1 'Fairy Tale', Winter Squash F1 'Bonbon', and the delectable Tomato F1 'Sugary'. These new garden introductions have been chosen for their superior performance in side-by-side comparison trials.
New seed varieties have been introduced to North American gardeners by All-America Selections since 1933. Independent AAS Judges evaluate new unsold cultivars at AAS test gardens located throughout the USA and Canada. The UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research operates one of these trial grounds at its Totem Field Experimental Plots.

Want to talk about this weblog entry? As of August 22, 2006, all new entries and most older entries are cross-posted to the UBC Botanical Garden Discussion Forums for discussion (you might need to use the search function to find the thread you are looking for).
This is an effort to reduce the amount of time spent dealing with spam (the forums are very good at stopping spam, the weblog commenting system is not so good).
Older entries already containing comments remain open for discussion.
