Botanical Electronic News

“BEN (Botanical Electronic News) is an electronic newsletter that deals with botany and plant ecology of predominantly British Columbia, Canada and the Pacific Northwest (from California to Alaska) with broader references to planet Earth.”

Since its inception in 1991, BEN has been a favourite of naturalists for its reporting on news of interest: changes in plant names, discoveries of new populations of plants, book reviews, publication of identification keys, biographies, obituaries and more. Compiled and distributed by the Dr. Adolf Ceska, it is one of the best and easiest ways to keep informed about news of note to naturalists.

Want to talk about this weblog entry? As of August 22, 2006, all new entries and most older entries are cross-posted to the UBC Botanical Garden Discussion Forums for discussion (you might need to use the search function to find the thread you are looking for).

This is an effort to reduce the amount of time spent dealing with spam (the forums are very good at stopping spam, the weblog commenting system is not so good).

Older entries already containing comments remain open for discussion.
