Looking for images of plants?
Even though the number of digital photographs in the UBC Botanical Garden photo gallery is growing, the number of images is small compared to these two resources:
The Vascular Plant Image Library at Texas A&M University contains thousands of plant images aggregated from a number of sources. It is particularly helpful as a botanical resource since the images gathered often represent a selection of features about the plant throughout the year instead of only the photogenic flower or fruit.
The Native Plant Information Network Image Gallery contains over 15 500 images of plants native to North America. It is a project of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center, also of Texas. This resource is a bit more friendly for novice users, as it is searchable on multiple fields including common names and by US region.

Want to talk about this weblog entry? As of August 22, 2006, all new entries and most older entries are cross-posted to the UBC Botanical Garden Discussion Forums for discussion (you might need to use the search function to find the thread you are looking for).
This is an effort to reduce the amount of time spent dealing with spam (the forums are very good at stopping spam, the weblog commenting system is not so good).
Older entries already containing comments remain open for discussion.
