5th Canadian Plant Genomics Workshop

This workshop will bring together Canadian researchers and internationally-renowned scientists to explore recent advances in genomics research and it’s integration within the plant sciences. The meeting will examine the latest developments in genomics; insights into the processes and pathways that control plant development, metabolism, or interactions with the environment and other organisms; and new opportunities for biotechnology.

The 5th Canadian Workshop will be held July 30 - August 2, 2007 at the Renaissance Vancouver Hotel Harbourside, 1133 W. Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Critical dates:

* March 1: registration opens
* May 11: early bird registration deadline
* May 11: deadline for abstracts to be considered for oral presentation
* May 29: accommodation registration deadline
* June 01: deadline for abstracts to be included in abstract book

Up to two graduate student opportunities are available in the Centre for Plant Research, University of British Columbia, in the following areas:

(1) Phylogenetic and evolutionary studies in the Salicaceae
(2) Evolutionary and molecular developmental genetics of leaf morphology in poplar
(3) Evolutionary and molecular approaches to understanding flower morphology in legumes
(4) Other topics in the general area of plant evolutionary developmental genetics (plant evodevo)
