Neil Towers (Sep. 28, 1923 – Nov. 15, 2004)

With great sadness, the Centre for Plant Research mourns the loss of Dr. Neil Towers, UBC Emeritus Professor of Botany. Dr. Towers joined the UBC Faculty in 1964, where he ardently pursued his research and teaching until his death. Dr. Towers was well known for his work in botany and phytochemistry and recognized as one of the world's most cited scientists.

Phylogenetic Systematics and Historical Biogeography Course

A course in phylogenetic systematics and historical biogeography for Ph.D. students will be offered at the Institute of Biology at the University of Copenhagen, March 7-18, 2005. From the course announcement, “The aim of the course is to teach Ph.D. students the theory and methodology of phylogenetic systematics and historical biogeography. Thereby enabling them to use and critically evaluate current methods.”
