Huanquan Zheng, Dept. of Botany, UBC, will give a presentation titled, VLCFA elongation controls cell expansion in Arabidopsis organogenesis on Tuesday September 21. The seminar will be held in BioSciences 2000 at 12:30 pm.

2nd Canadian Plant Genomics Workshop

The 2nd Canadian Plant Genomics Workshop will be held in Québec City, August 29 - September 1, 2004. The major theme for the workshop will be functional genomics, with Canadian and International speakers presenting on the latest developments. "Intended to promote and enhance networking amongst Canadian researchers, this workshop will bring together top genomics guest speakers of international caliber, along with Canadian leaders in genomics research, all within the context of one of the most historic cities in North America."

Biotechnology Seminar

Alana Clegg will present a special seminar titled, Subcellular Localization of the Tobacco MAPKs SIPK and WIPK in Response to Pathogen attack by Harpin and Megaspermin on Wed. August 11, 2004 at 12 noon in the Plant Science Lounge, MacMillan 318D. All are welcome, graduate students in Plant Science and all investigators and associates of the UBC Centre for Plant Research are encouraged to attend.

2004 Poplar Council Annual Meeting

The Poplar Council of Canada (PCC) is holding its annual meeting on the UBC campus in Vancouver, August 8 to 11, 2004. The second annual Forrest Genomics Workshop, sponsored by Genome BC Forestry Genomics (Treenomix), will be held on August 7, concurrent with the PCC meeting. This year’s meeting focuses on the integration of forest genomics into the work of foresters at all levels of research and industry.

SER2004 in Victoria

The Society of Ecological Restoration International's 16th annual World Conference on Ecological Restoration is being held in Victoria BC Aug 24 -26 2004 on the University of Victoria campus. The theme of the conference for 2004 is Restoration on the Edge with a focus on the link between culture and ecological restoration.
