Dr. Quentin Cronk, Director of the UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research, will be addressing the Vancouver Institute on November 22, 2003 with a lecture entitled The Thin Green Line: Plants and the Future of Humanity. The lecture begins at 8:15 p.m. in Lecture Hall No. 2 of the Woodward Instructional Resources Centre at the University of British Columbia.

"Weeding out the genes: genome-wide approaches using Arabidopsis"

Dr. Joseph Ecker, from the Salk Institute, will give a presentation on Thursday November 13, 2003 as the key speaker for the lecture series in systems biology: "Weeding out the genes: genome-wide approaches using Arabidopsis". The seminar will be held at 12pm in Lecture Hall No. 6 of the Instructional Resources Centre.
