Lichen Monitoring Project in Vancouver
Volunteers are needed for a Community Lichen Monitoring project in the Greater Vancouver Area sponsored by Environment Canada's EMAN (Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Network). The project will survey lichen communities around Vancouver to use as indicators to characterize air quality.
Community group representatives will hold a planning meeting in February. A 2-day workshop on lichen identification and survey methods will be offered to volunteers in late February, followed by an intensive (approximately 4 day) survey of the GVRD in early March. Individuals and groups interested in participating should contact Hillary Quinn of Environment Canada.
