The Linnean Society of London and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew are hosting a symposium on palm biology April 6-8, 2005. “New palm phylogenies have enhanced all areas of palm research. This international symposium aims to draw on these advances by focusing on the current status of palm research both in evolutionary biology and in the environment” (from the synposium announcement).
Papers will be presented on four main themes: phylogeny and evolution, conservation and sustainable use, structural biology, and ecology. Guided tours of the palm collection at Kew will be offered. Registration fees are £ 65 for adults and
£ 45 for students. For information and registration visit the symposium announcement.
