2004 Poplar Council Annual Meeting

The Poplar Council of Canada (PCC) is holding its annual meeting on the UBC campus in Vancouver, August 8 to 11, 2004. The second annual Forrest Genomics Workshop, sponsored by Genome BC Forestry Genomics (Treenomix), will be held on August 7, concurrent with the PCC meeting. This year’s meeting focuses on the integration of forest genomics into the work of foresters at all levels of research and industry.

The public release of the full DNA blueprint for the first forest tree, black cottonwood (Populus balsamifera subsp. trichocarpa), this year, will revolutionize the field of forestry. The keynote speaker, S. DiFazio (US-DOE – Oak Ridge National Laboratory), will present, "The international Populus genome sequencing project: Unveiling the secrets of a pioneer tree".

Registration fee for the PCC meeting is $375CA (Student $175). The Forest Genomics Workshop is free. For registration and more information, please visit the links below.
