Garry Oak Ecosystems Symposium

From the Garry Oaks Ecosystem Recovery List:

'Greetings fellow oak enthusiasts: As some of you may have heard there is a planned symposium on Restoration of Garry Oak Ecosystems at the Society of Ecological Restoration's 16th annual conference in Victoria, BC Aug. 24-26, 2004.'

'A plenary talk by Nancy Turner and Mark Leach on the status of the world's oak-dominated ecosystems is scheduled to precede the symposium. The planned oak symposium will consist of four 20-minute time slots, three of which are still open at this time. We are looking for presentations on restoration, management, or research involving Q. garryana and/or associated ecosystems. Note that presentations do not have to report research findings; they may cover restoration projects, management in oak ecosystems, etc. If you are interested in volunteering to fill one of the these time slots, please let me know as soon as possible. Also, if you have co-workers or associates who you think would be interested, please forward this to them. If we can fill the four spaces we will be able to have this symposium officially scheduled, and I will notify the volunteers as soon as I know.

For those who volunteer to present at this conference, an abstract is due by April 1.

Additional information on the conference is at:
