May as well start the new year with fireworks...
I've previously written about Hamamelis ×intermedia 'Fireglow', so I'll refer you to that entry today while I continue to enjoy a sliver of time off after madly rushing to submit the John Davidson web site for review by the end of the December. It should be available for public viewing sometime in February, if all goes well.
For those readers of today's Vancouver Sun article, “No One-Hit Wonder”, welcome! My suggestion is to start your visit by checking out the main Botany Photo of the Day page and the main UBC Botanical Garden Forums page, and explore from there!

Daniel, Bravo for you and your dedication to this website. It was nice getting a peek at the photo of you so now I can put a face behind the posts. I've enjoyed your picture of the day for several years now and have learned so much through your daily postings. Thank you!

I discovered BPotD via my first Mac to offer widgets ... it was the first one I downloaded! I've enjoyed it ever since, and was happy to learn more about the site and the man behind it (VS article).

Thanks all, I've fixed the little glitch with the email (or at least made it work for today's entry).

Hi Daniel:
I have hamamelis x intermedia "jelena" (probably don't have that correct) and she is just about to burst forth with those lovely orange "spider" blossoms which are a true winter joy. I'd like to know, however what you were doing posting a plant of the day at 3:06 A.M. (!?) Cheers!!

Your No-Hit Wonder link is pulling up a badly malformed page. =(

That link works fine for me. Congratulations Daniel on a very nice article.

Nevermind - that website uses a bunch of URLs that big advertisers use so AdBlock blocked it all.

Loey, I've been fighting a cold the past couple weeks, and so my sleep schedule is mixed up right now.
Eric, here's a link to their printer-friendly page: No One-Hit Wonder

Nice photo of an ugly flower. But of course we all know beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I too had trouble the first time I tried to look, but this time it worked. Thank goodness!
When I saw the picture begin to open, I was amazed. What looked to be some legged spider turns out to be a bunch of them! Amazing.
I sure did miss the morning greeting though. I did do some browsing though.

Nice to see you back, Daniel. I wondered how long you'd be able to keep yourself away, but after I saw the Vancouver Sun article, I was pretty excited, thinking you'd surely be posting something new. In the meantime, I've been enjoying living in 2006.

Would you kindly post a copy of the Vancouver Sun article?

Hi Daniel, I was so pleased to read ,'No One-HIt Wonder' in the Sun. You are amazing. Thank you so much for all you do. There are many Western Massachusetts Master Gardeners who have a chance to learn from you. We then can pass things on to the public. Master Gardeners are all volunteers.
Thank you for todays' Photograph,
Margaret-Rae

Good Morning, Daniel.
I just wanted to let you know that the Botany Photo of the Day would not open on my computer this morning when I received the daily e-mail from you. An error page appeared saying it "could not be found" ,so, I had to come to the UBCBG website to view it. I hope you can easily fix this. The photo is lovely.
