Eremophila sp.

Botany Photo of the Day will have brief written entries on weekends, holidays and my vacations from April through September. – Daniel

Georgie Sharp@Flickr is the photographer of today's image (original via Flickr BPotD Group Pool). Thank you, Georgie!

Collectively, eremophilas are also known as emu bushes, hinting at their distribution in the dry lands of Australia (note that this photograph was taken at the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden). Australian Plants Online has an extensive article about the genus Eremophila, including photographs of flowers from a number of species.

Just two comments.
Seems obvious but this plant or flower must be a close up greatly magnified. Hence it would be useful to have a cm scale. But it might detract from the aesthetics therefore it should be clickable or removable. Or else a natural size also clickable alternate be available.
Finally and secondly the name. There should be three or four names given, one the scientific English name, the common dialectal English name, the official Latin botanical name, and finally the local ethnic aboriginal name. As this is Aussie it must have one.

A very impressive photograph. All the different colours are wonderful to see.
Thank you, Margaret-Rae
