It is hard to deny the architectural appeal of downy Japanese maples when presented with a specimen such as this one from the Portland Japanese Garden.

Phantastic photo!
I've been to the Portland Japanese Garden (probably saw this specific tree) and it is a "must see" if one is in the Portland area. Luckily, I left my camera behind when I visited several years ago, else I would probably still be there ;-).
