we have a cornus white wonder in the back yard of our house that was here when we bought the house however, it has failed to bloom ever in two years and never even had a leaf on a branch! in it dead? is their a certain type of plant food that it may need? how often does it need to be watered? you would think that it would have grown some new leaves or something with all the rain that we have had this winter!

It's funny that you could write this without using the name dogwood. I recognized the inflorescence immediately, and then mentally cross referenced it against the fable to make sure I wasn't mistaken. Then I double-checked the leaves.

Is this a useful identification? Or is there a significant difference between Cornus 'Eddie's White Wonder' and the various trees I know as dogwood trees?

Yes, it's a dogwood. For whatever reason, I neglected to use the common name.

I was searching the web to find a nursery who has an Eddie's White Wonder and came upon this site. Eddie's White Wonder has special meaning to me. My Great Grandfather was Henry M. Eddie, the creator. He passed down his love of gardening to his son, William C. Eddie, my grandfather. Grandpa then passed his green thumb to my mother. My mother just passed away recently. Her gardens were always beautiful. I am very proud of what my Great Grandfather created.

The Van Dusen Garden in Vancouver may have the largest number of these White Wonders. In addition they have one of the original trees along with a plaque that describes the origin and history. Questions on how best to care for these plants may be best handled by the Van Dusen staff. My Grandfather was H.M. Eddie and the family is very proud of his work.
