Plant Introduction Scheme of the Botanical Garden (PISBG)
Started in 1980 by former Director Roy Taylor, the purpose of the Plant Introduction Scheme of the Botanical Garden is to enrich the local nursery industry with first-rate new plants. In the past, this scheme has focussed on native selections or ad hoc breeding. Currently, a coherent program of scientific breeding is underway, led by Dr. Andrew Riseman. Close links have been forged with our industry partners, principally the Vancouver-area nursery growers, led by the BCLNA, the provincial nursery trade organization.
