Staff and Glacial Relic

UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research is stewarded by over 30 researchers and staff members, some with over 25 years of experience. The broad spectrum of knowledge and skills present in the garden's people ensures that the human side of the garden is as strong as the plant collections.

There are also over one hundred Friends of the Garden (FOGs), who act as ambassadors for the garden. These "more-than-volunteers" organize events, grow plants for sales, study phenology, answer plant care questions and much more. Entering their 28th year, they have made (and continue to make!) an immeasurable contribution to the garden.

In addition, students are hired each summer with funds from the University of British Columbia Botanical Garden Apprentice and Student Training Endowment Fund. These students receive a "working and learning" experience unlike any other in British Columbia.
