British Columbia Native Garden

Lupinus polyphyllus

The beauty and science of British Columbian flora

In four hectares (10 acres) of sloping coastal forest, the visitor has an opportunity to enjoy many of the native plants of British Columbia. Internationally popular UBC Botanical Garden Plant Introductions grace the entrance, including Penstemon 'Purple Haze', Vaccinium ovatum 'Thunderbird', and Arctostaphylos 'Vancouver Jade'.

Matteuccia struthiopteris

Students, from pre-schoolers to post-graduates, are frequent visitors, investigating everything from taxonomy to biochemistry, or simply enjoying the frogs, insects and birds, which are part of the natural bounty. Along stone paths, or across an open field, edged with perennial borders, the visitor is once again embraced by the University of British Columbia Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research's global reach.

UBC Botanical Garden and Centre for Plant Research also operates the British Columbia Flora web site.
