new plant

I work at my in laws resort where I do all the landscaping. This year I started several cannas from seed. There was on canna out of them all that was very unique in color, I havn't thought a thing about it, until yesterday when a traveler came in that was a master gardener, he seen it and told me that he has never seen or heard of the coloration that this one has and that I probably got it through cross pollination. He said that I should take a picture of it and get it registered as a new color, he also said that I would be able to name it and everything. Can anyone tell me how to go about doing this?

Re: new plant

wow that is cool .. i had the same thing happen to me with a variegated Sweet pea .. beautifull creamy yellow and green.. it was the only plant out of all of them thatcame up variegated .. and these ones are perrenial .. it was pretty ..
I took alot of pics .. waited for it to flower .. and it did .. waited for it to go to seed and it did . and i collected the seeds from it .. now i have to wait till next year to see if it comes back true to form from the seeds..
and you will probably have to wait till next year to see if it comes back the same color .. it has to stay stable ..
here is a link to Plant Patent info ..

Re: new plant

Ohhh thank you so much, he did mention that I needed to see what it did next year also. I hope it does the same thing next year I am so excited about it. If it does I am going to name it after my mom :)
