japanese beetles-weeping cherry tree

does anyone have a way to keep japanese beetles from attacking my3 yr.old weeping cherry tree? is there a spray or powder or organic means that is effective in accomplishing this? I live in N.E. Conn., and the tree is on the N. side of the house. Thanks.

Re: japanese beetles-weeping cherry tree

You can treat the grubs in the lawn with Bt.

You shouldn't see any Japanese beetles now. If you are seeing beetles now they are a different species.

Just noticed Lee Valley carries a Japanese Beetle trap (prod. ID AT241, AT243). Don't know how effective it is though.

Re: japanese beetles-weeping cherry tree

Hi Allison,

What you are seeing is either the Green June beetle or Japanese beetle. The Japanese beetle is copper and green and not as large as the Green June beetle.

Green June beetle id and options:

Japanese beetle id and options:

I just pick the Japanese beetles off and drop them in a container with soapy water.
