Updated: How to post a message
1. From the main UBC BGCPR forums page, find the most appropriate forum.
For example, if your questions is about grapes, click on the link to the Grapes and Grape Vines Forum. If you don't see an appropriately titled forum, click on the link to the Hortboard near the top of the forum listings - that's our catch-all forum.
2. Click on the NEW THREAD button (and please make sure you've done Step 1 first) in the top left or lower left corner of the page.
This will load a form where you can enter your message.
3. Enter a descriptive title for your message in the title line.
This helps pique the interest of other forum users.
4. Enter your message in the big message box.
With their first message, most people ask questions (as opposed to starting a conversation / discussion). To help others answer a question, be sure to include enough description and relevant details.
5. Click on the Submit Button below the message box.
That's it!

Re: Updated: How to post a message
It's easy to post a message or reply, but is there any way to completely delete it - eg. if you make a blunder on a plant ID and can't correct it. Editing it won't delete it.

Re: Updated: How to post a message
I'm also wondering how to delete a post. And, can you please tell me how to make the heading bold like others.

Re: Updated: How to post a message
The forum software makes the heading bold automatically, you don't need to do anything for that.

Re: Updated: How to post a message
Thank you. I'm wondering why my headings and others show up as not bold then?

Re: Updated: How to post a message
I wonder if it has to do with the browser's font settings. For example. In Firefox there's a checkbox for 'Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above'.
Testing...<this is normal>...<this is bold>.

Re: Updated: How to post a message
I'm using Firefox. I can make the body different, but my headings are always regular not bold.
At least when I view the page of threads, all of my headings are not bold. Thanks for your help!

Re: Updated: How to post a message
Are you experiencing this with just these forums or other forums as well? Does the bolding work with the Citrus Growers Forums?

Re: Updated: How to post a message
Well, I haven't posted there, but all of the headings look bold when I view that site. Also, when viewing this site, mine are not the only non-bold headings. There are a several others. Is it just my computer or does my heading look bold to you? (at the plant id forum main page)

Re: Updated: How to post a message
There may not be a problem. A thread title in a forum (e.g. Plant Identification) is not bold if the reader has read all the posts in the thread or has marked the thread as read. Because of the way I use the forum software I rarely see any bolding in the titles. Might this explain what you're experiencing?

Re: Updated: How to post a message
Oh, I guess that's what it is. I just see all of the other headings as bold. But it's no big deal. My questions keep getting answered, so bold doesn't seem to matter! Thanks for your help.

Re: Updated: How to post a message
Hi, I tried to post a new thread, and got the message "[something] after an administrator has approved it". I thought that it only was when you hadn't confirmed your e-mail adress that it was necessary to wait for your message to be approved. So my question is: Is this normal, or is there any way I can reconfirm my e-mail adress?
(and if you can read this; why isn't my post/thread approved?)

Yes, apparently with the new spam filter in place, a few false positives are made from time to time -- and this holds posts in moderation. Let me try to track down your other posting...
