Czech Plant

Well we got this plant in the Czech Republic (where we currently live) with no name (might not have understood it even if the name was given...). Has long thin leaves that are a little serrated on the edges (the close-up is a little too close for the flash on my cheap camera but you get the idea...). Lots of (20 or so) skinny, flimsy stems.

Having lots of good challenges with our plants and the Czech style of heating - hot water radiators under the windows...

Any help would be great!

Most species of plants are tropical, so a houseplant could be something most gardeners in cold climates have never seen before. Does this one ever have new shoots arising from the base that look like slender Asparagus spears? That's all I can think of, maybe it's a species in that genus.

It does have very miniature asparagus-type-shoots from the base...
