Where are birds of paradise native flowers?

I have a bet with my friend Phil that they are native to Hawaii, he thinks Central America (he won't determine a country).
Could someone clear this up before we meet back in class on Tuesday?

Re: Where are birds of paradise native flowers?

Not a bulbous plant, an evergreen perennial.

I don't think Stefartni had pics, it was a general question. I don't either, bet here are a couple of informative links.
