We have no idea what this regeneration plant is...

Please help us to identify this plant that has thick, jagged leaves. On these leaves the plant grows little baby clones with roots that fall to the soil and immediately attach as ground cover and some grow tall and start a new plant. It's very hardy.

We know it here as a "Mexican Hat Plant" though there is at least one other totally unrelated plant (a coneflower I think) going by the same name. They are a regular feature in our community school science demos, easy for the kids to propagate.
Yours looks to have dark edges on the leaves which may indicate a nutrient imbalance.
