Cephalanthus occidentalis

Here is buttonbush growing in Central Park, New York City. It is a beautiful native wetlands shrub, growing in moist soil to standing water. As part of our management of woodland and wetland areas, we choose native plants that are both beautiful and that provide habitat for wildlife. Although we are in the middle of a major urban area, we have a substantial amount of wildlife that lives or passes through the park.
