I bought this unlabeled succulent at a local grocery store today, and need to find out exactly what it is so I can properly care for it. The plant is approximately four feet long in places. Each teardrop-shaped "leaf" is dark green and fairly fleshy/hearty in nature, with a waxy appearance.
Wow! That's the largest one I've ever seen! It's Senecio jacobsenii. Some call it Jade Vine or Trailing Jade because of its similarity to Crassula ovata, Jade plant.
It's a beautiful plant... I'm hoping that I can manage to keep it healthy. Do I need to thin it out a bit, or can I let it grow as is?
From what I understand, this plant needs a lot of sun and low moisture. Does that mean that I should water it only when the soil feels dry to the touch?
I don't have a great track record with regard to caring for plants, but I'd like to learn how!
