Indoor house plants recommendations please
Hello everyone :)
I live in Edmonton, Alberta and winter is about to it, I am looking for indoor house plants that will give me loads of oxygen. I sleep in my room with my dog and it gets quite stuffy so I would appreciate some recommendations.
I have a window to the east and there is some light but not necessarily any sun. So I don't know which plants would be best. This is a picture of which shelf I am placing them upon
Also do I go to any greenhouse and pick up the plants or do you grow your own?
Best regards,
Parry

Re: Indoor house plants recommendations please
I would agree with Marn, spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum) is one of the easiest plants to grow and should work in your spot. They do set little baby off-shoots, which would make it easy to propagate. Try checking around a few nurseries or plant shops and look for low-light selections. Choose whatever pleases you. Buy small inexpensive plants to start, that way if they don't work out you won't have wasted much. One of the most common problems for houseplants is dry air, so you may want to consider putting the plants on a tray of pebbles with water in it, or provide extra humidity somehow if your house is dry.
Have fun and green luck,

Peace Lily Is good too. They are so pretty : ) You can also different plants with different light requirements and move them. It can be a pain, but I really enjoy having plants in my room. I have a north facing window so I have to move them every other day. I have a list of the best plants to clean air. Its from my book,
Boston Fern Kimberly Qeen fern weeping fig
florist's Mum bamboo palm peace lily
Pygmy date palm rubber plant Areca palm
Janet craig Draceana english ivy corn plant
those are supposed to be the best of the best for Air polution. though the spider plant will reduce 85% of Formaldehydein the air in one day. Hope this helps. good luck
