Dieffenbachia

Thank you so very much. This is a potential life safer, in that: This plants sap is toxic, I now know. If a person were to touch its sap and then touch their own mouth the tongue would swell to the point of suffication! Wow! Good to know.

best to be safe around dieffenbachia, a common name for it is Dumb Cane, taken supposedly from the silly sailors that would dab it on their toungue thereby causing the swelling and numbness rendering them speachless or "dumb".
