Cordyline Australis help please

i have a Cordyline Australis that is about 9ft high and still in a pot it is in a south facing garden and gets full sun for most of the day (or as much sun as the uk gets) .over the last couple of weeks the leaves are starting to look slightly yellow is this the start of them turning completley yellow and dying? i thought that leaves turning yellow was a sign of over watering but when i look at the soil in the pot it is bone dry! so i dont know what to do
some advice would be most appreciated as i know very little about plant care

Re: Cordyline Australis help please

Plunge the whole pot onto a bigger bucket if you can ( sounds a bit big) when you stop seeing bubbles, then it should be watered. With the heat wave you guys have been having over there, it's probably dying of thirst. You might want to try giving it some food sooner than later as well, ( Its getting to the point where you can't do it before autumn sets in.)
Also if your looking for help a bit closer to home, there is a forum that I can recommend called www.ukoasis.co.uk A few of those guys live round the corner from you. and have probably been having similar problems with the drought you've been having.
