adenium bud drop!

Hi there: I posted a few weeks ago about an adenium obesum that I had just inherited. It is looking quite a bit better - sending out many new leaves and sprouting from the trunk/caudex. It has also formed a lot of flower buds, which plump up and then just seem to abort over the period of a day or so. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I have it in a south window, and am giving it good drinks and then allowing it to dry somewhat between waterings. I also gave it a high phosporus fertilizer (for blooms) diluted to 1/4 strength. I was told by the local succulent group that it likes high humidity, and so am misting it daily. It seems to like this. I am also planning on putting it outside this summer, which I do with many of my houseplants. Any thoughts would really be appreciated as to why the blooms form, grow and then die (before opening that is).

Re: adenium bud drop!

Hi Chester,

I did a google with the term:
adenium bud drop
and found this site.

Quote:
Bud Drop

This disease ocurs only on the buds and flowers with no effects to the plant or foliage. This disease is usually associated with a fungus or also from chemical damage (i.e. Miracle Grow poisoning)
Here's another helpful site.
