Nice, bushy specimen. A dwarf cultivar is sometimes on the market down here (Washington), when a local nursery has it trucked up from California.

Re: Grevillea victoriae

Do you have information on how well they grow in our climate in Washington - (west side of cascades) If they fair well, do you have leads to nurseries that sell them here in washington?

Re: Grevillea victoriae

I've got four specimens blooming outside the window here. One fell over in the snow, has remained horizontal but that would be due to roots being deformed by container culture, not an inherent characteristic. A favorite of local grower Colvos Creek nursery, Vashon, WA where much of existing one gallon stock sold at last fall sale due to specimen in plantings there being in flower. Some of these one gallon size plants were also already in flower. Has been offered in five gallon pots at some local garden centers in recent years as well. Hill/Narizny, PLANT LOCATOR-WESTERN REGION (2004, Black-Eyed Susans/Timber) list

Colvos Creek, Vashon, WA
Tropic to Tropic, South Delta, BC
Plant Farm, Salt Spring Island, BC
Evergreen Terrace, Longview, WA
Heronswood, Kingston, WA
Fragrant Flora, Roberts Creek, BC
Dancing Oaks, Monmouth, OR
Siskiyou Rare Plant, Medford, OR

nurseries for the typical plant (based on 2003 offerings, I believe). Cistus nursery, Sauvie Island, OR is listed for G. victoriae "U British Columbia form" specifically.

I'll wait for guest to acknowledge receipt of the message, then move the relevant parts to the sourcing plants forum.

Re: Grevillea victoriae

Wow, just visited the alpine garden in late march and saw this fantastic grevillea being visited by a humingbird, just as advertised. Thanks for the pic!

Re: Grevillea victoriae

That "dwarf" cultivar was 'Murray Valley Queen', not actually dwarf but denser in a 5 gallon pot than other form(s) seen.
