Hi, Can you identify these for me?
The first one grows like crazy, I have this plant scattered everywhere in my house.
The second one was alot smaller when it was given to me, it was in a basket of other plants with the first one. (some starts of the plant in the first picture is in the same pot)
The third was rescued from a discount rack at the grocery store and didnt fare too well during the dry winter, but it is coming back again.
#1 don't know, someone else probably will. It's a common houseplant or maybe used to be? I think my sister had a similar one on her mantlepiece 20 years ago. :)

#3 Calthea 'Corona' common name corona prayer plant {the link uses java console, if you have a later version of windows, should pick it up automatically}
Finally remembered the name of my sister's plant. It was a 'wandering jew'. That makes #1 a Tradescantia species or relative? The link is a google image search.
Couldn't have timed that better, could I. I think your T. pallida is probably correct. Hope the common name above isn't politically incorrect. Times have changed since I first Knew this plant. Actually 30 years ago, not 20.

Yeah, great timing! Great minds think alike. The plant I know as wandering jew is T. zebrina. That's the problem with common names. I've tried to switch to latin names as much as possible and actually find them easier in some ways. They're often fairly descriptive of a feature of the plant that helps me remember it (thanks to college latin/greek). Probably always politically correct that way too.
Well, now I see why my Prayer Plant had such a hard time in the dry winter, it says to Keep humidity level above 65%. poor thing, I had no idea. I hope it can come back more, right now it has one leaf.
About the tradescantia, I cant find one that looks just like it but i think it is definately related to what I found in my search, I am trying to find out if it would be safe to put it in my chameleion cage, they dont eat alot of plant material mostly bugs but theres a chance he may take a bite or two from plants in there. Would all of the plants in this family have the same or simillar toxicity range?
i dont think it is safe.. all of the wandering jews are not .. im pretty sure .. you could do a google search for toxic plants to your reptiles.. best bet would be to find some silk ones like at a yard sale or something .. and decorate it that way .. i think it would look alot better ..
oh and your wandering jew .. it needs more light .. try givieng it morning sun .. and it will get really purple and will flower .. small pink flowers .. they are really pretty .. it is a purple heart wandering jew ..
